Color of the Year

A diamond may be forever, but an emerald is divine.

Happy 2013! All of us at Oscar Heyman wish you a new year filled with good health, happiness and prosperity!

Emerald green has been declared the Color of the Year for 2013 by Pantone, the global authority on color. According to Pantone, “Emerald, a vivid, verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being by inspiring insight, as well as promoting balance and harmony…Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life…Emerald is the color of growth, renewal and prosperity…”

And Oscar Heyman agrees. The emerald is a sophisticated and luxurious gemstone — a wonderful stone for 2013 and beyond. Celebrities have always treasured emeralds since the golden age of Hollywood. Marlene Dietrich, Grace Kelly, and of course, Elizabeth Taylor, all adored their emerald jewels.

The emerald is believed to possess phenomenal powers of healing, luck and love. It is considered the stone of the goddess Venus as it is thought to preserve love. For some, the emerald acts as a tranquilizer for the mind, bringing the wearer calm, reason and wisdom.

Today, most of the world’s emeralds come from Columbia, Brazil and Zambia and are still one of the most coveted gemstones. Oscar Heyman has worked with emeralds, hand crafting spectacular museum quality pieces for a century.
